Beach Use Workshops
Learn the Beach Rules! St. Johns County holds workshops to let people know about beach access policies in compliance with the approved Habitat Conservation Plan.
Some of the measures in the HCP that will minimize impacts to our protected species is that vehicular access will be limited from 8:00 am to 7:30 pm from May 1st – October 31 (possibly longer if nests are still hatching), increased enforcement of Conservation Zone (CZ) regulations, and developing and instituting a training program that must be attended by drivers wishing to obtain a four-wheel drive permit for driving north of Vilano Ramp.
This will allow our nesting sea turtles a safe passage to and from their nesting sites. Other changes affect lighting, commercial fishermen, and horses on the beach. For more information, please contact: Jade Dupuis, (904) 209-0619.
