LIFEGUARD I - MARINE RESCUE

St. Johns County Marine Rescue is currently seeking qualified Lifeguards. These seasonal positions primarily concerned with emergency and non-emergency activities inclusive of water and emergency medical rescue components of Marine Rescue operations. Routinely patrols supervised swimming areas, ensuring that all activities are in order. Patrols unsupervised swimming areas periodically for hazard identification mitigation. Answers questions and assist the general public regarding beach and water safety matters. Maintain the readiness and ability to quickly respond. Performs and/or assists in mitigation of situations requiring emergency or non emergency intervention. Minimum age - 18 years old Minimum Physical Requirements. Annual Medical Screening and Questionnaire. Pre - employment physical test. ½ mile run in 3:30 or less. 500 meter open water swim in 10:00 or less. 400 meter open paddle on a rescue board in 5:30 or less. Waterman ship skills. Tread water 10:00. Underwater swim 15 yards. Dive and retrieve object from a minimum depth of 10 feet. Minimum Hazmat Certification - certified as having completed the requirements of Hazardous Material training in relation to a first responder. Blood borne Pathogens Training - Certified as having completed a course of minimum instruction in minimizing exposure to blood borne pathogens and is familiar with the Department's blood borne pathogen program. Ocean Lifeguard and Surf Rescue Training - Certified as having completed the requirements of surf rescue training as approved by the United States Life Saving Association and Saint John’s County Fire Rescue. An acceptable driving record in accordance with Department policy. EVOC. Complete Department Certification Course. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver license with a satisfactory driving record. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Hourly rate $11.71. Qualifications

  • Run: 1/2 mile in < 3:30 minutes
