Public Design Workshop – The public is invited to participate in a Public Design Workshop regarding the creation of a Master Plan for the William Bartram Scenic & Historic Highway Corridor Management Council. District 4 Seat – Governor Charlie Crist has appointed Phil Mays of Ponte Vedra to serve as the District 4 Commissioner. Read the full announcement, including a statement from Commissioner Mays. (Posted:12|23|08)
Firefighter and Paramedic of the Year – St. Johns County Fire Rescue is pleased to announce the 2008 Firefighter and Paramedic of the Year. They were both selected based on nominations received from their peers, with the final decision being made by a department appointed awards committee. Lieutenant Michael Sciotto was selected for Paramedic of the Year. Engineer Jeff Mrwik was selected by the committee for Firefighter of the Year. (Posted:12|15|08)
County Health and Human Services deemed a “Community of Excellence.” The St. Johns County Health and Human Services Department has received international accreditation by the Council on Accreditation, an international not-for-profit accreditor of family and child service organizations. St. Johns Reads – The St. Johns County Public Library System invites the community to join together in the enjoyment of reading with the 4th annual ST. JOHNS READS program in February 2009. This year’s activities will focus on The Camel Bookmobile, a novel by Masha Hamilton about a librarian who leaves Brooklyn to deliver books to forgotten villages in Africa. Full story.
